Gorgonzola Piccante DOP is a soft, aged, pasteurized, blue, cow's milk cheese from Italy. "Piccante" translates to "spicy" in Italian. This Gorgonzola is unique thanks to its thicker rind and more crumbly texture than Gorgonzola Dolce. The cheese has ivory white color marked with deep blue-green veins. The flavor is intense, pungent, and sharp, supplying a stronger and spicier taste than Gorgonzola Dolce. With a maturation period of 80 days, this cheese is perfect to serve over salads, fruits, risotto, pasta, and toast, or combined with jams and honey.
