Unlike all other caviar substitutes, the Avruga caviar is not a caviar at all! So if you think people should give Sturgeons more chances to multiply and replenish Avruga is your best choice! This unique product was invented, patented and is produced by a Spanish company Pescaviar.
It is made of the smoked golden herring which meat is processed with some lemon juice, fine sea salt, dyed with the natural squid ink and formed into a pretty small imitation of fish eggs. They don't have the crunchy structure as Stromluga and not even the burst of juicy flavor of some true caviar but it's structure is still pretty nice. As for the taste, it is a little bit smoky with a slight lemon note which some people prefer to other caviar substitutes. It is quite affordable, so to make your own opinion you should definitely try it!
For your information it has Marine Stewardship Council “Chain of Custody” certification.
